Join DO & A Sista's Touch for our 3rd annual charity 5K to raise Human Trafficking Awareness. Although we will not be able to be in person, we are committed to maintaining the same experience of community, awareness, and inspiration. What's a Virtual 5k To ensure your safety and to practice social distancing, you get to choose where and how you participate in the 5k/3.25 mile distance. You can stay indoors (treadmill/stationary bike) or you can map out the distance in your neighborhood or another safe open space. You can run, walk, or ride a bike, whatever your pleasure; we just want you to share space with us to show solidarity in the effort to stop human trafficking. On Saturday October 3, 2020 from 10:00-11:00am, African American Outreach at the Alzheimer's Association will present a virtual panel discussion on ways to keep church members diagnosed with dementia and their caregivers involved in church. African Americans are twice as likely to develop dementia. Churches can create welcoming supportive environments for in person and virtual services that allow families to stay engaged. Staying socially and spiritually connected allows individuals with dementia to stay independent longer and helps caregivers maintain mental health wellness.
