The Oakland Bay Area Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated in partnership with Allen Temple Baptist Church invite you to our Bay Area Jack and Jill Youth Town Hall Saturday, January 14, 2017 | 10AM - 12Noon Allen Temple Baptist Church, 8501 International Blvd., Oakland, CA Join us as we provide an engaging forum for our youth to share their feelings and opinions, and determine how they can "go high" in these changing times. The Town Hall will be faciliated by Oakland's own Regina G. Jackson - President and CEO of the East Oakland Youth Development Center (EOYDC). Children of all ages are welcome but the event is most appropriate for children and teens in Groups III, IV, & V. Mothers are encouraged to stay and listen. We are very pleased to welcome our National President Joli Cooper-Nelson as well as our Far West Regional Director LaTanya Bellow for this occasion. Light refreshments will be provided. University of the Pacific – 2017 Black History Month Celebration

University of the Pacific's annual Black History Month celebration involves a number of activities that honor the history and heritage of African-Americans and the African Diaspora. We are proud to announce our 2017 BHM Keynote Speaker is LECRAE, two-time GRAMMY Award-winning hip-hop artist and author of the autobiography, Unashamed. Lecrae has sold 1.7 million albums to date, including his latest Anomaly, that debuted on the Billboard 200 Album Chart at No. 1. He has performed on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and the Hip Hop Awards on BET Network. He is an artist focused on caring for people, providing messages of hope and inspiration. He feels, "Music doesn't need to be categorized. It just needs to be good." On Feb. 10, 2017, he will provide some of that good music and provide a lecture revealing how he has overcome the challenges in his life and is impacting an entire generation-building community one person at a time.
