Please register here for this free event. \nIn honor of Black History Month\, this Womanist symposium honors the voices and experiences of Black women and their contributions to society throughout history. Led by famed Womanist scholar\, Rev. Dr. Teresa Fry Brown (Bandy Professor of Preaching\, Candler School of Theology at Emory University)\, the theme for this year’s symposium\, “…But I’m Still Here\,” acknowledges and explores all the ways that Black women persevere in society\, the church\, and the academy. \nDuring the lecture and response\, three scholars from two different academic generations will have an interdisciplinary\, Womanist\, theological discussion that will be both scholarly and practical in its orientation. \nOn Friday\, February 23 at 12:05pm\, Rev. Dr. Brown will be preaching in SFTS’ Montgomery Chapel. All are welcome.

SUMMARY:San Francisco Theological Seminary Welcomes Dr. Joseph Evans
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Joseph Evans\, President and Dean of Morehouse School of Religion\, will preach in Stewart Chapel on the San Francisco Theological Seminary Campus. \nDr. Joseph Evans is the Dean of the Morehouse School of Religion\, associate professor of Homiletics at the Interdenominational Theological Center and author of Lifting the Veil Over Eurocentrism: The Du Boisian Hermeneutic of Double Consciousness published by Africa World Press (2014). His newest book’s working title is Reconciliation and Reparation: Preaching Economic Justice in the African American Church is expected by Judson Press (Spring 2018).  In addition\, Dean Evans is the author of numerous scholarly articles that include “The Radical Nature of the Du Boisian Metanarrative and Economic Reparations” in the Homiletic (Spring 2016) and “Vernon Johns and the Romance With Death” in the American Baptist Quarterly (February 2017). Gardner Taylor once described Evans as one of the “brilliant preachers of his generation.”
