On Saturday October 3, 2020 from 10:00-11:00am, African American Outreach at the Alzheimer’s Association will present a virtual panel discussion on ways to keep church members diagnosed with dementia and their caregivers involved in church. African Americans are twice as likely to develop dementia. Churches can create welcoming supportive environments for in person and virtual services that allow families to stay engaged. Staying socially and spiritually connected allows individuals with dementia to stay independent longer and helps caregivers maintain mental health wellness.
