Limited Edition Postal Stamp Honors 150th Anniversary of Emancipation Proclamation

    Emancipation Proclamation Forever Stamp

The US Postal Service has announced the release of ‘The Emancipation Proclamation Forever Stamp’, the first in a series of 3 Civil Rights stamps to be released this year. This limited-edition Forever Stamp is available for purchase nationwide today, and commemorates the 150th Anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation signed by President Abraham Lincoln, Jan. 1, 1863.

Designed by renowned graphic designer, Gail Anderson – The Emancipation Proclamation Forever Stamp was introduced during a ceremony at the The National Archives in Washington, D.C.

Throughout the year the US Postal Service will add to its civil rights postage series with commemorative stamps for Rosa Parks, and the March on Washington.

I encourage you to purchase the stamp while you can. The excitement and historical significance will make these hard to come by during February’s Black History Month. You can’t go wrong with Forever Stamps!
