Berry Gordy was all smiles as the East Bay gathered to celebrate “Berry Gordy Day” and reflect on how much the music of Motown is tied to events that have shaped our nation.

The commemorative event hosted by Alameda County Supervisor Keith Carson drew elected officials and community leaders including Elaine Brown, Congresswoman Barbara Lee, and Mayor Jean Quan who presented the Motown founder with an Oakland “Key to the City.”
