Steamy and Racy. This would be the perfect way to describe Tyler Perry’s If Loving You Is Wrong if you only skim the surface.
The latest addition to the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) – the show follows the lives of five very different women who come to be introduced by their children. The first 30 seconds jumps out at you, and grabs your attention – no really, it puts you in a choke hold! But I promise, it’s just an attention grabber and helps to give some context to the introduction of each character.
Recently we sat down with the cast at the OWN office to enjoy a sneak peek of the the season premiere. While most of us probably thought Ms. Winfrey would peek around the corner and say hello, sadly she was away gearing up for the ATL stop on her “Life You Want” Tour. Back to the show…
The cast is made up of a diverse group of actors. Even with the gender and ethnic diversity – story lines touching on topics such as struggle, trust, faith, and infidelity resonate loud and clear.
While watching, I couldn’t help but identify each of the characters with people in my life and/or incidents that have played out. Churchy folk might be turned off, but if we’re honest with ourselves this is what the average person on the pew struggles with everyday. I pray we don’t miss the opportunity to dialog, unpack the show and grow together
