Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir Annual Music Workshop & Gospel Concert

Join Terrance Kelly, Nona Brown, Mickala Cheadle, Marcus McCauley, Javier Navarrette, Jae Phoenix, and other expert instructors to expand your education in the areas of voice, stage presence, ear training, gospel technique, movement, and more.

Dinner will be provided for workshop participants courtesy of members of the Oakland Interfaith community.

Plus, perform with the mass choir at the Annual Free Spring Concert (7:00 PM) and inspire the audience by making a joyful noise!

Session 1 – 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM

  • Beginning voice with Mickala Cheadle (I)
  • Choir management with Mark DeSaulnier (A)
  • Soloing with Nona Brown*
  • Choir Directing with Terrance Kelly (A)
  • Yoga breathing (A)

Session 2 – 10:15 AM – 11:15 AM

  • Beginning voice with Mickala Cheadle (I)
  • Stage presence with Nona Brown*
  • Color me gospel with Terrance Kelly*
  • Movement with Javier Navarrette (A)
  • Songwriting with Marcus McCauley (A)

Session 3 – 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM

  • Breathing for singing with Mickala Cheadle (A)
  • Ear training with Marcus McCauley (I)
  • Intro to tambourine with Jae Phoenix (A)
  • Riffs & runs with Terrance Kelly*
  • Body rhythm with Javier Navarrette (A)
