    Oakland, CA: The funeral for gospel legend, bishop Walter Hawkins, will be streamed online on www.ktvu.com, the Fox affiliate television station in the San Francisco Bay area. The ceremony takes place Wednesday, July 20, 2010 @ 2 p.m. EST/ 11 a.m. PST. The vocalist known for gospel classic hits such as “Goin’ Up Yonder” and “What Is This?” passed away last week after a two year battle with pancreatic cancer. Bishop Kenneth Moales (of Prayer Tabernacle Church of Love, Inc. in Bridgeport, CT) will officiate at the ceremony.The service takes place at the Paramount Theatre, 2025 Broadway, Oakland, CA 94612-2303. Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Walter Hawkins Memorial Foundation.     Meanwhile tonight some of gospel music’s biggest artists are gathering to pay trbute to Bishop Hawkins by performing some of his biggest songs on THE WALTER HAWKINS TRIBUTE CONCERT that will air this Sunday, July 25th on GMC, America’s favorite channel for uplifting music and family entertainment, at 8:00 p.m. ET, 5:00 p.m. PT. Gospel performers who will perform include: Yolanda Adams, Mary Mary, Donnie McClurkin, Hawkins’ sister, Lynnette Hawkins, R&B artist Ledisi, Karen Clark Sheard, Daryl Coley, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Tramaine Hawkins, Ted Winn, Byron Cage, Melvin & Doug Williams of The Williams Brothers, guitarist Jonathan DuBose Jr., D.J. Rogers, and The Love Center Choir. The music directors for the evening will include Hawkin’’s brother, Edwin Hawkins, Donald Lawrence, Kurt Carr, Richard Smallwood, and Hawkins’ longtime music director, Rusty Watson. Bebe Winans, Marvin Winans, and Black Entertainment Television (BET) personality, Dr. Bobby Jones will serve as masters of ceremonies.
