On Monday, Dec. 20, local barbers and stylist will unite at Moods & Attitudes Too, 420 15th Street (between Broadway & Franklin St) for the 4th Annual Holiday Makeovers. “God has equipped us all with more than enough, so we can meet the needs of the people”, says De’Morea “Truck” Evans, owner of Brother’s Men’s Parlor, and coordinator of the annual program.
Each year, over 80 individuals receive free services donated by local barbers and stylists. This year – Get Screened Oakland will also be on hand providing HIV/AIDS awareness resources and testing information.
Doors open at 10AM, and walk-ins will be cut off at 2pm. No pre-registration required. This event is offered under the umbrella of Word Assembly Community Development Corporation (WACDC), a nonprofit organization whose mission is to meet the holistic needs of the community through programs and services that empower the lives of all individuals.
Hairstylists, Barbers, and volunteers are invited to lend their time. For details contact Denisha DeLane, Director, WACDC [510] 433-0404 or ddelane@wordassemblycdc.org
