As you may or may not know, the month of February is a very important month for us here at A Safe Place, as it kicks off National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention month.
On behalf of the staff and volunteers here at ASP, we would like to invite you to and inform you of our upcoming 2012 Town-hall Session for Teen Dating Violence Prevention entitled, “Teens Acknowledging their Strength & Power”. This event is co-sponsored by Council Member Desley Brooks, District #6, and supported by the City of Oakland.
The participants will have the opportunity to hear and read real TDV stories/scenarios, view clips from the powerful and informative Real Talk DVD, participate in discussions regarding teen dating violence and its impact on their young lives, ask questions and receive answers from our panelist speakers, have the opportunity to participate in our poster art contest, AND receive FREE GIVEAWAYS! Please join us in this national effort to raise awareness regarding teen dating violence and abuse during this month of February. Please pass this information along to any of your contacts, and/or teens that you know may benefit from this extremely valuable and informative town-hall session.
This powerful Town-hall session will be held on February 15, 2012 (Yes, the day after Valentine’s Day!) from 4pm-6:30pm. Teens will gather at Oakland City Hall in the City Council Chamber Rooms on the 3rd Floor. The address is 1 Frank Ogawa Plaza, Oakland, CA 94612. You can take BART to 12th Street Oakland City Center .
