The 54th Annual Citywide Revival, hosted by the Baptist Ministers Union of Oakland and Vicinity, kicked off with Youth-A-Rama to a standing room only crowd at Greater St. John Baptist Church. Under the leadership of BMU President, Rev. Lawrence Van Hook, the Bay Area congregations were well represented by their members and clergy.
The rain didn’t dampen the energy and spirit of the congregation, which spent most of the evening on its feet as messages were delivered by Rev. Williams (Bethany) and Rev. Timothy Garnett (New Covenant).
Under the direction of Terniqueka Garnett, the Youth-A-Rama Choir – with over 100 children, youth, and young adults declared the goodness of the Lord in song, along with liturgical dance presented by the praise and mime team. As the choir presented their final selection, an anthem, everyone in the room was in one accord as we witnessed young people engaged in authentic worship on a wet Saturday night in West Oakland.
If tonight was any indication of what the week will bring, the 54th Annual Citywide Revival will be a memorable one. Don’t miss your opportunity to enjoy it for yourself: April 1 – 6, 2012, 7PM Nightly with guests Dr. Stephen Thurston, and Dr. Toland Morgan.
