Since arriving on the scene in 2003 to pastor the historic Beebe Memorial Cathedral CME Church, Dr. Charley Hames Jr has come up with his own creative blend of ministry, and mission. Why should his birthday be any different? Tonight, Pastor Hames will celebrate his 40th Birthday during a Community Benefit Concert featuring gospel recording artists Anita Wilson and Wess Morgan.

The latest addition to Beebe’s growing ministry is 24 year old, Joe Douglass. A local native, and long-time member of the GMWA NorCal Chapter, Pastor Hames recently introduced Douglass to the congregation as the new Assistant Minister of Music, Worship and Arts.

The newcomer will work alongside Donnell Garrett, Beebe’s Director and Minister of Music, and is excited to roll up his sleeves to support ministry at Beebe. Says Douglass, “The sky is the limit here. There’s a drive, and urgency to people arriving at church on Sunday morning…from unchurched people. I’m amazed.”

Pastor Hames is committed to ministry outside of the box, recently releasing Beebe’s first IOS & Android APP, and a worship broadcast set for KCBW (Channel 44/Cable 12). It’s only January – we’re sure there’s more in store for the rest of the year.

Known for his commitment to community, Pastor Hames has been an advocate for hunger relief, violence prevention, and reducing HIV/AIDS stimga in places of worship. Tonight, the Bay Area will gather to celebrate his birthday and pay appreciation for his commitment to giving. The concert begins at 7:30PM (doors 6:30pm), and will benefit local nonprofit agencies. Tickets $40 available online and at the door.

    Happy 40, Pastor Hames!
