A Community Building and Informational Event
The 2nd Annual BUSD Black Family Reunion is set for Saturday, September 19, 2009, from 11am – 3pm at Rosa Parks Elementary School located at 920 Allston Way, Berkeley.
Coordinated by African-American staff and parents from the Berkeley Unified School District, the BUSD Black Family Reunion is all about unity, community and fun – some of the core elements of a family reunion. There will be performances by church choirs, African dancers, and other musical selections. We will provide school, community, and health information so that families will have more resources to support their students for a successful school year. There will be workshops such as “Berkeley High 101” and “Transitioning to Middle School” and books by African-American authors will be available. Free blood pressure checks and information on healthy eating will also be offered. In addition, great food is part of the event!
Families from all schools are invited to attend. Contact the BUSD Family and Community Partnerships Office at (510) 883-5222 for more details, or if you are interested in helping with the event.
