Changes in the lineup of Oakland’s Annual Art & Soul festival have brought several surprises, none more exciting than Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir’s artistic director, Terrance Kelly assuming the mantle of procuring the talent for the gospel stage.

Edwin Hawkins, who has been at the helm of the popular stage for the past several years, has had a long standing relationship with Mr. Kelly through their respective contributions to the genre regionally as well as internationally.

Art & Soul’s decision to assign the responsibility of procuring the talent for this year’s stage to Kelly is a nod towards recognizing the diversity of Oakland, culturally and spiritually. While there are no plans to replace Hawkins as producer of the gospel stage with Kelly handling the responsibility of this year’s stage, we can expect a broader display from the genre.

Be there Sunday, August 4, 2013 from 4-5PM at the Oakland City Center EBX Plaza Stage!

Joining Kelly this year are some of the region’s most popular gospel artists including:

    Robin Hodge Williams and Purpose
