    The Cancer Prevention Institute of California (CPIC), formerly the Northern California Cancer Center, invites you to attend a very special breast cancer awareness event for the SF Bay Area community!

    PURPOSE:

    As disparities persist in breast cancer death rates among African Americans, there continues to be a growing need and interest in having educational programs and services that are specifically designed to address the unique issues and concerns of this population. The purpose of this annual conference is to help raise awareness about breast cancer in African American communities and to provide women with culturally-appropriate information and education to help them make informed decisions about their health, and to empower them to be advocates for themselves and their loved ones.

    INTENDED AUDIENCE:

    Cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, family members, friends, community advocates, health professionals/providers, and the general public.  African American women of all ages and health status encouraged to attend, including those who are 40 and under. 

    TOPICS:

    Breast cancer risks, early detection, nutrition, physical activity, stress reduction, treatment options, triple negative breast cancer, survivorship, recurrent & advanced cancer, and health advocacy, with a special focus on mind, body, & spiritual healing.  Attendees will also have access to over 150 local and national health resources and information related to breast cancer and proper breast health.

    REGISTRATION:

    Registration fee is $20 per person and includes official conference program materials, tote bag, deluxe continental breakfast, lunch, and inclusion in all raffle prize drawings (must be present to win).  Sorry, no refunds provided for this event and registrations are non-transferable.  Secure and convenient online registration available at www.cpic.org/EORO .  Also, can view Conference Brochure and Flyer online, in addition to printing out registration form and submitting payment by check via mail.

    Continuing Education Units (CEUs) available for RN (CEP 13488), MFT/LCSW (PCE 868), and CHES (Application has been made to the NCHEC for CHES Category I CECH) for an additional $15.

    TRAVEL DIRECTIONS/PARKING:

    Parking available at the Underground Cathedral Parking Garage for a flat rate of $5 per day. The 19th Street BART station is conveniently located approximately 6 blocks from the Conference Center at the Cathedral.  Limited shuttle service from/to the 19th Street BART station available by request only (from 7:30am – 9:30am; 4pm – 5pm).  To request shuttle service or for travel and parking details, visit www.cpic.org/EORO.
