Earlier this year, I started to hear whispers of this change at BET, but didn’t want to believe any of it. C’mon, who didn’t grow up on Sunday mornings with Bobby Jones Gospel? Sadly, its true, and while a part of me is glad Dr. Jones is making his exit on top – we have to raise the question on everyones mind…What’s happening with Gospel on BET?
BET Networks announced at the BET UPFRONT that it will tape the 35th and final season of “BOBBY JONES GOSPEL,” cable television’s longest running original series. Bobby Jones Gospel has been a long-time destination for new and breakout gospel artists. His humor (he’s funny as can be), and support will be missed each week.
Throughout the years, Dr. Bobby Jones and BET welcomed gospel music’s biggest stars including Shirley Ceaser, Vicky Winans, Dottie Peoples, Byron Cage, Mary Mary, Hezekiah Walker, Donnie McClurkin and many more, each and every Sunday and the upcoming season of “BOBBY JONES GOSPEL” promises to be the biggest season yet! With gospel music’s most talented entertainers, choirs, evangelists, and newcomers appearing to wish Dr. Bobby Jones well wishes, tune in for a season filled with jubilant performances and mesmerizing interviews.
